Joanna started in the Junior Club when she was 10 with her brother and sister. She soon took up sabre as her preferred weapon. She was club sabre champion in 2003 when she was 16.

She is now living in London and is on the Olympic Pathway scheme to prepare young athletes for the 2012 Games.

Jo regularly competes in international tournaments and is ranked number 2 in UK senior women's sabre.
